Akaroa – French Colony

 

Join us on a relaxing tour of Banks Peninsula and the old French whaling colony of Akaroa. We will travel over the Port Hills facing Christchurch, via the Sign of the Takahe and the Kiwi, Governors Bay, and Gebbies Pass. Past Lake Ellesmere, we will stop at the Hill Top to admire beautiful Akaroa Harbour. A tasting of freshly-made cheese at Barry’s Bay factory will serve as an appetiser for a splendid luncheon at the award-winning waterfront restaurant, ‘Bully Hayes’. After lunch take a two hour Eco cruise on the Akaroa Harbour Cat where you will see penguins, dolphins, seals, and a salmon farm, OR, enjoy the village walkabout-style. Before departing, we will visit French Farm Winery for coffee and/or wine tasting in a wonderful country garden setting.

Akaroa Jets

For those wanting a harbour tour with a difference! Experience beautiful Akaroa harbour from a 20 seat open air jet. Stops include Marine Farms, Palm Gully and the Majestic Cathedral caves where nesting Cormorants and Penguines can be viewed. This is the only tour that can enter inside the caves. Full 50 minute tour that combines the sights with the thrills and 360 degrees spins of jetboating.
